About The Tin Code
The Tin Code is an initiative launched by the International Tin Association (ITA) in 2018, showcasing our member’s engagement and commitment to making progress and positive contributions in the areas of ESG and sustainability.
Building on unique and extensive experience and invaluable lessons learnt from our mineral due diligence projects and other standards systems, we developed 72 standards grouped under 10 principles that align with global expectations for environmental, social and governance performance.
Tin Code standards use a progressive rating system, with companies expected to achieve conformance and increasingly use independent assurance to verify their performance.
Tin Code reports encourage continuous improvement in upstream ESG performance through transparent sustainability reporting. Participation does not mean that a company or operation is free from risk. Stakeholders should use Tin Code reports and assessments alongside their own due diligence.
