STANDARD DEVELOPMENT

Stakeholder engagement

ITA engages regularly with international organisations and stakeholders across the mining, minerals, metals and responsible sourcing sector to foster efficient and cost-effective co-operation, discussion and action on important regional and global issues affecting the sector as a whole.

Our team serves as a focal point for stakeholder engagement and dedicates resources to formulate, facilitate and execute effective communication internally and externally to enhance our stakeholder engagement and collaboration with all interested parties.

In the design stage of the Tin Code, we reviewed many relevant existing standards including established industry standards (IRMA, ICMM) to learn from their experience. Since 2020, we have been benchmarking the Tin Code to current metal standards and have been able to identify opportunities to collaborate, creating wider impacts for our stakeholders and society.

We welcome feedback and suggestions on the Tin Code at any time, please get in touch via the contact form.

Monitoring & Evaluation

The Tin Code is committed to continuously learning and improving by measuring and reporting on its progress.

ITA is in the process of developing a monitoring and evaluation framework including defining indicators to track progress towards our intended impact as set out in the Theory of Change.

See the Public Reports webpage for more information.

UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The global tin industry, along with other extractives industries, has the opportunity to contribute to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) by demonstrating improvements in social and environmental performance.

ITA is mapping the Tin Code’s principles and standards to the UN SDG’s to understand interlinkages and where the tin industry can support progress towards these global goals. This section will be updated with further information in due course here.

ISEAL INSIGHT

ITA is subscribed to ISEAL Insight for additional resources on credible and effective practices for sustainability systems, and support development of the Tin Code.
